The winter/facultative 2-row malting low temperature tolerance panel is a set of 384 doubled haploids derived from crosses amongst 15 parents. The parents were selected based on 1) their low temperature tolerance and/or 2) their malting quality. In 2017/2018 the panel is being grown in OR, NE, OH, NY, and VA. The integration of the phenotype data with Illumina 50K genotype data will contribute to realizing the project goals of 1) furthering the development of 2-row winter/facultative malting varieties and 2) contributing to a deeper understanding of the genetics of low temperature tolerance. Support for germplasm development provided by the American Malting Barley Association (AMBA) and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.
