Resisting Disease and Immoderate Temperatures

Stripe Rust
Stripe Rust
We are working with colleagues to characterize levels of adult plant resistance to barley stripe rust, identify the QTLs/genes responsible for the resistance phenotype, and to deploy resistance alleles in new genetic backgrounds.
Stem Rust
Stem Rust
In this project, we are developing UG99-resistant resistant germplasm and by leveraging resources provided by the Barley Stripe Rust NACA, we are also assessing this germplasm for resistance to other rusts.
Temperature
Temperature
The goals of this project are to furthe the development of 2-row winter/facultative malting varieties and contribute to a deeper understanding of the genetics of low temperature tolerance.
